The Twelve Guilds
The Twelve Guilds of Baltharia are eight groups of craftsmen and workers in particular fields. There is acclaim to being highly rated in the guilds, and they often have guildhouses in the major towns and cities in the same ways churches have temples. They often have work, and being a member provides a few privileges as well as expectations.
The guilds are:
Shipwrights - With the seas impassable, the Shipwrights are now responsible for the waterways within Baltharia and for protecting the fishing vessels on the coastline.
Waywatchers - A group who are responsible for keeping the roads and paths of the land clear and operational.
Explorers - This is more or less a guild of adventurers, who stage expeditions and the like.
They're not exactly a mercenary guild but they can be a good source of work in that vein.
Mages - Although not all mages belong to the mage guild, this is a large collective of arcane users who wield some significant power as a group.
Additionally there are The Smiths Guild, Jewellers, Architects, Farmers, Legislates, Merchants, Caravaneers & Scholars
